City of Red Deer

Red Deer's history goes back over 100 years. What began as a collection of small homesteads and a few trading posts has grown into a thriving and modern city. Currently, Red Deer is home to just over 98,000 residents (2014 Census). Red Deer works to support strong organizations, build community, conduct social research, and connect with government, private sector, and non-government organizations (NGOs). Red Deer is served by the RCMP. General Duty members of the RCMP are the first responders to all calls for service from the public. Members investigate crimes, lay charges when appropriate, investigate motor vehicle collisions, do preventative patrols, and enforce municipal bylaws, provincial statutes, Criminal Code offences, and the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. They also have Traffic Services, Community Policing/Victim Services, Community Response Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, General Investigation Section, Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification. They are also part of ALERT.
