Electronic Motor Vehicle Searches

In August, the Alberta Government responded favourably to a strong coalition of AAPG, AACP and AUMA that spoke against the $15 fee imposed by Service Alberta on electronic motor vehicle searches for traffic law enforcement. More information is found on this website under the #6 Resolution for 2011.

Now, the Solicitor General and Minister of Public Security has issued a Discussion Guide, with responses due October 31st, 2011, which questions the appropriateness of police or law enforcement budgets being directly connected to traffic fine revenue. Members, please consider copying your completed Discussion Guide to AAPG so that we can determine where there is common ground and whether another strong coalition with partner agencies is possible.
