A proven senior executive who has overseen operations in the heavy equipment, energy and industrial sectors, Mr. Tim O’Brien has had responsibilities in complex, diverse organizations that are comprised of union and non-union resources, $450 million P&L across five service lines in 28 distinct regions in Western Canada, while ensuring targeted growth and financial strategy and management. During his time with Flint Energy Services as a Senior Vice President, Mr. O’Brien participated in the acquisition of several aligned companies in the oil and gas sector in support of the company’s overall strategic plan. This required him to successfully develop new internal services and processes to integrate six acquisitions into a single operating division growing revenues from $165 million to $450 million annually. Mr. O’Brien has served the community in a variety of ways in a board capacity, including Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Elite Camp Services, Raydon Rentals, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and St. Joseph’s College, University of Alberta. During his time on the Persons with Developmental Disabilities Board, Mr. O’Brien was the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee where he had oversight of $200 million operating funds that were distributed annually. He oversaw the allocation and monitoring of government funding for 50+ agencies. As committee chair, Mr. O’Brien met with staff from the Office of the Auditor General at least twice a year and liaised with the Ministry of Human Services on governance issues affecting risk management and audit plans. He also played a role in establishing the measurement of “value” towards achievement of overall system goals and laid the groundwork for board assimilation back into the government creating the foundation of the PDD transformation that is underway today. Mr. O’Brien brings a practical and common sense approach to problem solving and is recognized as a strong leader and influencer to which others gravitate and are willing to offer their support. He is highly principled, and will always work in the best interest of those he is serving.
